Cherished Nonno to Laureen (Vince), Francesco (Jen), Maurizio (Jen), Renato (Casey), Nicola (Amanda), Christina (Aaron); Jennifer (Jim), Danielle (Dan), Michael (Christina), Melissa (Christie); Taylor and Jack. Great-Nonno of Victoria, Isabella, Olivia, Sophia, Marcus, Alyssa, Alexandra, Stella, Landon, Melody, Ruby, James, James, Hope, Khloe, Kayden, Cameron, and Sophia. Brother-in-law to Luigi, Pia, Angelo, Anna-Maria, Francois, and Robert. Predeceased by his parents Antoine and Apolonia, and brother Joseph. Antoine will be missed by many extended family and friends in France, Lithuania, Greece, Canada and the USA.
Antoine was born in Lithuania, raised in France, and immigrated to Canada with his wife and two children in 1965. In Canada they welcomed their third child, and the family continued to grow with 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. An electrician by trade, he worked tirelessly for his family. He was passionate about family time, enjoying many meals and celebrations together, which always included a good glass of French wine. Antoine enjoyed the outdoors, as an avid fisherman and talented gardener. If you stopped by in the summer, you no doubt would find him tending to the vegetable garden, and offering the fruits of his labour to all. Indoors you could find him playing the harmonica, reading at the kitchen table, and brushing up on his history or debating about politics. He loved to cook alongside his wife, and created the best salad dressings. He kept family recipes alive through three generations, most notably marinated herring and potatoes.
The family would like to thank the caring team of Huron Lodge, for their exceptional care over the last two and a half years. Antoine made many friends, and will be especially missed by his best friend resident Tony.
Special thanks to his brother-in-law Luigi for the surprise serenade on his last birthday celebration, with happy birthday and the French national anthem on mandolin.
